Reactivity, Aggression & Fearfulness

In our experience there are very few truly aggressive dogs. Many of the aggression or reactivity cases we deal with are rooted in frustration, fear, or a desire to remove a threat. Very often, the dog has had an historic experience that prevents it interacting appropriately, or has been poorly socialised with different environments, dogs or people. In other cases, it can sometimes be the result of a lack of leadership, guidelines and boundaries that every dog needs to thrive.

Our rehabilitation course consists of a 3, 4 or 5 session series, (dependent on severity) which looks to explore the reasons for aggression, reactivity or fearfulness, and identify solutions that modify the behaviour positively.

We evaluate and address any issues with owner leadership that may be triggering an inappropriate response from the dog, and give a clear pathway of practical techniques and exercises that improve communication, increase engagement and improve responsiveness with the goal of restoring relationship, and most importantly, increase the  confidence of the owner to be able to guide the dog through the rehab process.

Our Elite Rehab Package consists of 5 sessions broken down into distinct areas of focus specifically designed to overcome even severe reactivity. Each session addresses the most common areas that effectively impact on reactivity and lead to a successful outcome.

  • Session 1: Evaluation, groundwork, impulse control focus, relationship enhancement, and behaviour at home.
  • Session 2: Lead manners to reduce reactivity.
  • Session 3: Desensitisation, and proximity to triggers.
  • Session 4: Longline work and recall reliability under distraction.
  • Session 5: Final assessment and Proofing before handover to client.

We strive to help you achieve neutrality and help you and your dog become more able to navigate the world with increased confidence and better equipped to cope with the things that it struggles with.

“Truly transformative training!”
“We met Steve by chance on a green near a beach, a space full of dogs, A situation where we usually struggle with our highly reactive 4-year-old GSD, Piper. After just one session with him today, the transformation is incredible. Piper, who used to react to every dog, remained calm and focused, even around many other dogs. She’s already pulling less on the lead, and we finally feel hopeful after unsuccessful attempts with other ‘trainers’. Steve’s guidance has been a game-changer, and we can’t wait to keep up the training. Thank you so much, you’ve already given us our lovely dog back!!!”
